I have the fun opportunity to be part of the Color Challenge Design Team for the month of February. Barbara gave us some bright and fun colors this week. My first thought when I saw the colors and the Animal Dessert Option was to make a fun birthday card. I picked the retired Bonanza Buddies set and thought I might be able to use the DSP that matched it, but while the color palette is similar it was not quite right. I was inspired by a sketch I saw recently on You Tube but ended up with a slightly different design. I found some DSP with the same design in all of the challenge colors and cut four strips all the same size. The dies that coordinate with this set has a tag shape that works perfectly for my modified sketch. I have had kind of a thing for designing with tag dies lately.
I was originally going to stamp my little koala in a neutral gray shade, but I spent part of my Saturday making Valentines with my seven year old DGD for her class. I had stamped a bunch of dog images for her to color. I colored my sample with a light and dark brown and had some markers set out for her to use. She colored a bunch that way, but then I suggested she could make her dogs any colors she wanted. After that we had a collection of dogs done in some of her favorite ice cream colors, like mint chocolate chip and strawberry. So in honor of her creativity I decided to create a blue raspberry koala. When I showed my DH my rough mock up of the card he told me it needed bling, so I got a little carried away with some fun glitter drops! This is not quite what I first envisioned, but I like it! Please have some inky fun with these colors and join us in the gallery today!
