This is my card for this week's Letter I alphabet challenge. The I's in my card are Icy winter Scene and Island Indigo Ink and cardstock. I have been rummaging through my stamps recently ever since I read that Miss Boo is using her older stamp sets (what a great idea!). I bought this Happy Scene set on a garage sale last summer so I thought I would ink this up. I was not sure about stamping the image in the Island Indigo ink, but once I stamped it onto scratch paper, I liked it so I rolled with it. Here in MN it gets cold enough that everything turns blue- including the trees. Ugh! With Cool Carribean ink, I used the edge of a Dreamweaver Picasso Metal Shield to add in a few clouds. Then I used a zig 2-way glue pen to add in the dazzling diamonds on the trees and the ground, but the scene still needed something. Birds did not work so I searched through most of my dies until I found this deer die. We live in the woods so we have a lot of turkey and deer so I liked the idea of using this deer. It is a trio of deer and this is the "baby" of the trio. I sponged creamy carmel ink onto the deer die and glued it into place. This was a very lucky accident because I had not even thought to put the window die on at this point so I am glad I got the deer in a good spot- whew! I took the Island Indigo cs and ran it through a stripes folder to give it the look of wainscotting and paired it with this dsp I found in my stash. We are wanting to redo our family room and I like this color combination enough that we may do this in there now. My husband likes it too because it is blue. Ha! I glued the window die over the scene and it just fell flat. Ugh! So, I set this aside overnight and went to bed a bit frustrated. I woke up the next day and punched a few of these pine branches out and added a twine bow and now I am happier with this card. I am sure this design has been used many times over, but I really did have fun creating and making this icy wintery scene. Thanks for looking today! ~Karen.

Karen, this scene turned out perfect! Don't you love happy accidents, such as placing the deer in just the right spot? I think the pine spray is a wonderful touch and the plaid dsp with the wainscotting makes this a comfy place to look out on your winter scene.

LOVE lots about this card...the color palette...so lovely, the embossed stripe and plaid patterned paper layers, the little snowy window scene with its cute little deer, love the swag over the window in pines and a jute bow. EYE-CATCHING card!

Karen, I loved reading the write-up and your thoughts that went with creating this gem. I love how you added the pine leaves and string bow. Isn't it great when you sleep on it, everything falls in place the next day.

Oh, Karen, I don't have time to read what you did, but I'm in awe of what I'm looking at! This is incredible (another I word), my friend! From the puffy clouds to the sparkling snow and the little sprigs with twine bow....my gosh, how adorable is this winter scene! Such a pretty piece of dp and embossed Indigo piece too, Karen!
