Wow, what a week!!! Our daughter gave herself a concussion last Tuesday so I stayed in the house for five days keeping an eye on her. Then on Sunday when I realized that Irma was headed our way I ran out to the store to find the shelves fairly empty! Our son came home from UWG since they canceled classes due to Irma's impending arrival which meant I needed some extra special meals. Next up I worked on a few emergency preparations just in case we lost power. Sure enough, we did! It was a bit of an adventure! The winds were something. I was torn between watching the hummingbirds at the back of the house perched on swaying branches to checking out the trees rocking and rolling in the front of the house!
When my husband took down the humming bird feeder for fear a strong wind might send it into our bay window, I asked our son to attach it to the porch railing so that the humming birds could still eat. Those little birds were WET and hungry. They zoomed back and forth from the safety of the tree branches to the feeder. It was fascinating to watch them. The branches underneath them would sway so hard that it would unsettle them from their perch and they would flutter up and then land back down then they would zoom to the porch for a quick drink and start the process all over again.
Here's my interpretation of Irma's visit to GA! I changed the hummingbirds to butterflies since I don't have any small humming bird dies, I added a branch and with the embossing folder technique, I added a swirling background!
Our power was only out 9 hours but the internet was down until just this minute so woohoo, I am up and running again!!!

Thanks for taking card of Gods little creatures, hummingbirds are the best. I'm glad you're safe and we're able to create. Nice card, I like the swirls. Stay safe.

So glad that you weathered the storm! I am totally jealous that I didn't get to see your hummers. I am just so fascinated with them. I feel like they're my babies....silly, but true. This turned out beautifully! I love the bg you created. Such a pretty birthday card.

So glad to hear that you weathered the storm well! What a cool interpretation of your neat story! I remember watching the hummingbirds during our last hurricane--not much else to do, right? They are fascinating!

WOW!!! Our hummers were doing the same thing! We only lost power for about 8 hours overnight but the winds were indeed harrowing! I love that you found something to give you joy during the storm! Such a gorgeous inspired card!
