I am on a roll trying to finish the Alphabet Challenge, Round 7, which just ended mid-August. I am also trying to catch up on the 2017 Christmas Card Challenge...this will be #2 of the 2 per month I challenged myself to do in January! I'm way behind...it's September!
I looked at the requirements for several challenges besides the Alphabet and Christmas that I knew I wanted to enter. After checking several out, I knew I could accomplish my original goals, and still add more as well, all with just one card! My end result was that I can actually enter eight challenges in all! Oh my...what fun is that??!!
To get inspired on what kind of card it would be, I checked out the INSPIRATION CHALLENGE: Christmas Tree Shops from last week, and chose this inspiration: http://www.christmastreeshops.com/pr...n#.WbJeNrKGO70, which is where I got my background idea...a night sky.
I looked at the Color Challenge way back - CC03, and I decided I could use those colors: Night of Navy, Rose Red, Brocade Blue (I subbed a touch of Marine Mist) for my night sky.
In the Alphabet Challenge, Round 7, I saw that I could accomplish Letter V = Verse focal point with my oldie stamp and Letter J = Just Color No Dies. I am completing the double challenge for both letters!
I also can do Clean & Simple - CAS444 - National Bow Tie Day and F4A391 - Put A Bow on It...both need a card with a bow.
For the 2017 Christmas Card Challenge, I can use April...reindeer, abominable snowmen, penguins, moose, or any creature with a Christmas theme, as I have reindeer frolicking at the end of the verse.
I next re-checked out Ways to Use It - Oldie But Goodie! I had the perfect stamp...a Sentiment Focus Christmas stamp, which I have owned since 1996 before I even became a cardmaker!! I was the elementary office manager for a brand new school that opened in the 1995-1996 school year. My principal was a classy lady, and we work well together. She wanted our school's first Christmas card to be something special...handmade. I went out in search of ideas, and I visited JoAnns and Michaels. I found this lovely stamp that I personally bought because I thought $14.95 was too pricey for our school budget, and I didn't know if it would work, but my youngest daughter loved to stamp things, so maybe it would not be a total loss...never knowing what my future held. It was difficult to get a good impression, so we did not use it for that Christmas card, and it languished unused until today. This was probably because when I first started cardmaking, I got into coloring, and I wasn't doing things like embossing. It was also a WOOD stamp, which I found I abhorred! But, I loved the stamp itself and just hung on to it! YAY...I'm using it, but removed it from it's wood, and I used it with my MISTI, which I really needed, as it was difficult to get a good imprint. I think I imprinted it six times before I was sure all parts were filled with Versamark.
I am so tickled that I was finally able to use this old stamp that I have always loved!
