This is for my Sketch Challenge. Hope you can join in. I look forward to seeing what you create. For those trying to finish up the DTGD Challenges, this layout would work with many of the projects.
For my card, I used a technique I learned recently – Faux Silk. Basically, I stamped the image on the tissue paper, watercolored it, let dry and crinkled it up. Then I smoothed it out on a double sided adhesive Score-Tape sheet, which made it easier. There is a tutorial for Faux Silk here on SCS if you’d like to know more. I used one of my favorite retired sets. I stamped the sentiment lightly in the corner and then randomly over the rest of the card base. The sentiment is stamped in full on the inside. The image looked subdued, so I used a muted DSP. I like how the edges of the paper are already aged looking. Last, I added a few embellishments for a finishing touch.
Hope you have fun with the sketch! TFL

I really like this sketch, Diane, and your faux silk is so soft and lovely! Your bow is a great embellishment!

I recognize that lovely image and those papers! What a wonderful combination. I love the way you've stamped the poetry onto your background, subtle, and really makes the image and dsp panels show to perfection. I also love your little blue daisy and bow as finishing touches. This card flew straight into my favorites!

Wow, it is so good to see those wonderful retired SU sets back in action. I've been using many of mine this summer too. I have missed this type of art in many of their current sets. It is so perfect for watercoloring, etc.
I can see these being perfect for Bible journaling too.

Love your colour palette! The soft subdued colours are a perfect match for your faux silk technique. I've tried this once and should do it again. Especially if I can achieve a look like this!
