These two cards are for Jeanne's mixed media challenge - Create a Background.
I started with an A4 sheet of smooth white cardstock. Using a large piece of aluminium foil, I smacked several distress ink pads onto the foil, then squirted on a lot of water.
Carefully lay the A4 sheet on top of the inky puddle. When using several colours it's important not to move the cardstock too much or you may end up with mud. Just use the palm of your hand to apply a bit of pressure. Allow to air dry (or hit it with your heat tool).
Using a new sheet of aluminium foil, I squirted on some green Dylusions Ink Spray and lots of water and repeated the process. Because I only used one colour this time, I was able to move the A4 card around and pick up colour here and there. It looked a bit bland so I added a few drops of Izinks to the puddle. Dry well.
Next step was to cut the A4 sheet into various sizes. Using several different stencils I applied lots of Distress Inks. I always prepare the distress ink with the Smack & Squirt method, then use a foam blending tool to mop up the inky water and scrub over the stencils. I find the intensity of colour improves when it's watered down.
I stamped the flywire stamp with Archival ink. The sentiment was done using MISTI (of course!!!) and Versafine.
The dragon flys look a bit like killer moths - I think I overcooked the chunky embossing powder LOL.
Thanks so much for looking, it sure is fun being back and getting inky.
Edit: I was just trying to scrub the Brusho's off my fingers and realised I left that step out. I sprinkled some Brusho powder on when I used the Dylusions ink spray.
