I'm "heating it up" today with my black heat embossing (flowers and sentiment). Karen Dunbrook has shared a fabulous technique here, where she uses Distress Oxide Inks swiped on a craft mat, squirted with water, and then applied to your card stock with the edge of a credit card.
After doing this to create my bg, I stamped the flower multiple times in Versafine black ink in 2 places (with the MISTI) in order to get a solid impression. Then, because the black ink takes a while to dry you can clear emboss this so that it pops from the bg more clearly and gives your card more texture. Stamped the sentiment the same way (w/ clear embossing also). Lastly, additional black ink and white acrylic paint are added in straight lines with a different edge of your credit card. Matted this panel, attached to card stock, and then added sparkly sequins. I LOVE this look and am grateful to Karen for sharing it!!!

I was just going to say, I thought this was going to be a Karen card - now I know why! You did great with this technique, Maura - really pretty. Into my faves it goes!
