What great timing that we have Internet in the town we are currently visiting. I am grateful to sweet Robin for choosing this months Free For All Friday theme before we went away so I could make this in advance. We are having a fabulous holiday, but I sure miss my Splitcoastie family.
I went with the 'mail' interpretation of the theme....think of junk mail and brochures sent in the mail. What better way to display the local takeaway shop phone numbers!
The checkerboard floor (fabulous technique here at SCS by Irene) was initially done on an A4 piece of cardstock in landscape orientation. After doing Irene's technique, I cut the A4 sheet into three panels. It is an optical illusion that the floor looks wider at the bottom, made by heavily scoring where the floor starts and bend it forward. See more below.
I used a Sharpie white paint pen to do the writing. I tried to get a chalk board effect by writing, then wiping it off with my fingers (it doesn't actually come off, but it does look blurry), then write over it again.
Luigi was stamped on a scrap of mixed media cardstock and his hat is from a cute Sassy Cheryl Digi image. His legs are were made with a scrap of cardstock and black marker, cut to shape. The boots are a knock of a Dylusions stamp. I just draw a half circle for the bottom and a couple of angled lines. I do this on the back of mixed media scraps, then trim to fit the legs. Once you have the shape right, draw black lines on the front.
I popped a couple of magnets on the back and now Luigi happily lives on our fridge door. Thanks so much for looking and I hope you get a chance to join in and get inky!
Here is link to Irene's checkerboard floor technique, sorry I can't make the link fancy, but I am doing this on my iPad.
Note:
I don't suggest doing this on an entire A4 sheet and cutting into strips like I did. It really does look best when done as a stand alone panel, that way you get the full effect of the technique.
