I am your hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and I am inviting you to play along and use Sweet Sugarplum, Wild Wasabi and Daffodil Delight on your project. The dessert option is BLING.
This is my second card for this challenge, but no second serving of dessert this week!
I saw Karen's beautiful card on Facebook last week, and am so delighted that she's telling us about the technique she invented. I'm always looking for a way to make a background where I can choose my own colors.
I found using a credit card didn't give me good results. Mainly, I think, because I was swiping too hard, and my cardstock started to pill. So I switched to Karen's idea of using a piece of cardstock as my tool. I cut three different pieces so I could use each for a separate color without contaminating them. I am very pleased with this attempt.
This card also fits with this week's Clean and Simple challenge, to make your own background paper.
I used some Crystal Effects on the chickie's eyes, to make them shiny and realistic. This card is going to a long-standing (not old!), friend from my east-coast days, to celebrate her birthday.

Ain't that smart, cutting three pieces of card. I found that my first attempt pilled and switched to heavier cardstock for my second base, didn't think of trying a different "tool". And I should have, really, because I've had the pilling problem with paint too. Thanks for the great tip - and the cute card.
