Well, let's just say that this card was a real journey! Last Friday my friend Becky and I got together to play with her new Distress Oxide inks, and we decided to try to watercolor with them. At the end of the day we both went home with something far less than we had hoped. So I put mine aside (not totally unhappy with it), and then the next day I decided to spray some water on it (after all, Jennifer McGuire said that the ink really intensifies...cool, eh?) Well, let's just say that the ink did intensify and that somehow it "bled out!" LOL! I added some water to undo some of the damage with paper towels/tissues and put it aside again. After seeing Mary's wonderful color challenge today, I looked and thought that perhaps I still could salvage this "puppy." I got out the colors and my pencils and found some that closely matched today's colors. It's okay, but it could be better. But then I wanted DESSERT! Not being a mixed-media kinda gal, I looked through my stencils (yes, I have them but haven't really used them) and found one I just got. So I used it to make my own background. Now I'm not totally happy with this card...it's way out of my comfort zone, but I must say that I am happy to have salvaged the card...hehe!
So thanks for hanging in there with me, and thanks for the close-up look at my card. I really appreciate it. And thank you, Mary, for a fun challenge. I managed to get all the colors in, and I really enjoyed it. Hugs, all! xoxo
P. S. I just realized that this works for April's Dirty Dozen theme...woohoo!

I agree, I'm glad you decided to save the background. This turned out beautifully. Like you, I've had my hardships with the colorburst. I need more practice.

I LOVE it. It is soft and has cool pattern mixtures around the image and the colors are super. Glad you salvaged it because it is beautiful. Then the tag and twine make it even sweeter. Lovely. Hugz

I was admiring this earlier in the week, and I guess I spent so much time enjoying all the lovely details that I forgot to comment. The bg with the very light stenciling is so pretty. I love the tin with the cord and tag. Those fliwers are just an explosion of lovely color. So very beautiful.

I didn't want your story to end sis, I love reading about the process and thoughts. I would pay serious money to learn how to achieve this end result!!! I never would have guessed that this was outside your comfort zone. Wow, I sure am glad you persisted, everything about this is gorgeous. Your stencilled background is the perfect addition. Love you to bits sis, big hugs to BIL too. Xxxxxx
