While out of town I spotted this fantastic original pencil sketch in an art gallery. I went in to see if the artist perhaps made note cards of her work. I took the opportunity to browse her phenomenal paintings and sketches. She did not make copies of her work. I really wanted to color this image, but of course the original is large. Lisa Starr offered to sell me the sketch and to lower her price, removed it from the frame. I asked how she felt if I used this to make a card. Her reply, " I'd be honored." These were a joy to color since her sketch was so detailed. This card is going to Lisa as a thank you for allowing me to use her art! She's also a stamper.
I used Spectracolor and Caran d' Arch pencils to color.
I had some difficulty getting a good photo. This appears more saturated than it really is.

Oh my goodness gracious me, what an amazing card. I loved reading your story, I hope this ends up back in a frame. Nancy I keep scrolling back for another look. Your colouring is out of this world, hang on I have to scroll back and see what you used....pencils! Seriously Nancy no-one uses pencils like you do. I bet Lisa will be over the moon.

Your coloring is so beautifully delicate, Nancy. I can only imagine how honored Lisa is going to be when she receives this. Her work is just as exquisite as yours...a melding of two artists. A treasure for both of you. I loved hearing the story behind it.
