Smilynstef is the guest hostess for today's Inspiration Challenge and she has us choosing from Decorative Dishes. My inspiration comes from this sage hisbiscus plate, http://www.decorativedishes.net/sten...us-leaf-plate/.
I don't have a hibiscus stamp image, so I went with this large azalea flower and inked it up with Bundled Sage distress stain and stamped onto watercolor paper. I used a water brush to pull the color into the leaves and stem. I used mustard seed marker to dot some color into the flower center and then used the water brush to color. Although you can't see it, I used a tiny bit of victorian velvet distress stain on the petals in the darker shaded areas, and then around the edges of the panel. I stamped the sentiment Simply Sketched in smoky slate and added some gray half pearl stickers. The panel is mounted on smoky slate cs.
My subconscious dictates heavily with floral images and color palettes, apparently. As I uploaded the photo into my card file on my pc, I noticed I had recently done the stipple rose in a similar color scheme and same occasion. I guess these muted colors generate a somber mood; note to self: create a happy occasion with these colors to break the cycle.
