I don't know why I even bother planning a card since my results can't even qualify as a distant relative of what I set out to make.
This is a canvas (not a card) for DH for our anniversary. Whenever I make a card he asks if we can keep it...so this canvas is something he can keep. It has hearts for the F4A challenge and birds for the MIX challenge. I covered the canvas with blue, fushia, and yellow acrylic paint, blending it with my finger....this takes me forever since I am indecisive and I keep adding and wiping off paint. I added white paint through a dot stencil and through dry wall tape. All of my heart stamps and die cuts are "perfect hearts" ...the kind that are on sweet pink valentine's covered with lace. Not a single artsy, grunge style heart anywhere. I did end up making this in the middle of the night when my body decided it had no intention of sleeping. I do wish that my body and brain could be more in sync as to when we should sleep and when we can make cards. Dolly the insomniac dog is now in heaven and I have Georgia the " what the h#*# are you doing up at 2am?" German Shepherd to keep me company. I cut the heart out of printer paper and used it as a reverse mask. The idea was to stamp the music through tge heart mask so tge heart shape was the only place where the music showed. I ended up with incomplete music impressions that did not look anything like hearts. I look the edge of the stayz on ink pad and outlined tge hearts through the reverse mask. The beauty of mixed media is that you can pretend like that was your intention all along. I stamped the birds first on the canvas then again on psper. The birds are colored with prisma pencils and fussy cut. The sentiment is computer generated. We need a new catagory under "anything but a card" called " hands after a mixed media project". TFL, Francie
I forgot one step. I used Gelato around the hearts and blended with my fimger.

Francie, I think you need to embrace your insomnia because the things you create in the wee small hours of the morning are fantastic! Love this and love reading about your creative process and adventures

This artwork is just stunning. I have been looking through your gallery and can't decide what I like best - they are all just so eye popping. Love your description of the "design" process. I have just recently been to a stamp camp - which was mixed media based - and really enjoy the hands on inky fingers experience now too. Just have to find some more time play around with it. Going back now to have another look at all your beautiful cards.
