I had no idea if my idea would work, but I am happy with the way it turned out. Thank you Audrie for another awesome site. I choose this Steampunk Egg for my inspiration.
I gathered up a few supplies and added them to a Styrofoam gourd. It looks like a pear. I sawed the gourd in half to make it look like it can be opened. I thought it was hollow inside, but found it was a solid Styrofoam piece. I added hinges to the back and a latch on the front. I covered it in foil tape and did a black paint wash over it.

Omgosh, you did a fabulous job on this steampunk pear. I loved that inspiration pic, but no way could I do it. You on the other hand did a super duper job with it.

OMGosh, I just saw this egg on the board and thought, wow, I should have done the steampunk! My husband agreed but seriously, I didn't see it before!
This is amazing girlfriend!! Beautifully done! I love the impressions on your foil and the extra pieces you added!! VERY cool egg to be sure!
