For today's Country Curtains IC challenge I was inspired by the Aviary Collection. Especially after I saw a little wren flitting round the garden earlier this morning .
Since I still had a lot of scraps on my desk from yesterday, I've also worked in Ky's MIX77 Patched challenge.
Base sponged DTP with Antique Linen.
Next layer - homemade green mister sprayed over paper, then stamped with IO Funky in Peeled Paint. Stitched to base layer with cream thread and zigzag, doesn't really show in the photo.
The hexagons are all cut from leftovers (since the Cover-a-Card stamps are square, I have a lot of trimmings left from when I make a background and then only make an A2 card). One was Script stamped with gesso, one is Woodgrain on kraft, one is Swirl Lace embossed in black on vellum. The other pattern is a snowflake folder sponged with blues, Versamark and Perfect Pearls. I added some foliage cut from another Funky scrap, which I sponged with Pine Needles and Iced Spruce to make it more like the colour in the inspiration. The bird is years old since I pulled him off a Christmas card I wasn't happy with. The hexagons have little hand stitches, since I was going to need them to keep the vellum patch added to the card securely.
Since this is going to a friend who just sent me some photos of our time with them at Christmas, I added a suitable sentiment.

Oh how I love this card! The stitching along the edge adds subtle texture, and I remember when we used to do those little pen stitches here and there in those country chic style goodies. Beautiful use of winter elements too. I would not have guessed snowflakes and the Christmas card bird. Thanks for playing my Mix-Ability challenge!
