I was inspired by two things for this card.
I wanted to make a different colored rose and was inspired by the colors here: http://design-seeds.com/index.php/ho...y/color-field5
I ended up making my own paper using our friend Tim Holtz's Distress Ink , Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, and a tiny bit of Barn Door. I put them on watercolor paper and then spritzed hoping for a multi colored look. It shows up more IRL, not so much in this picture.
My second source of inspiration was a card on this blog: http://cre8nart.blogspot.com/search?...15:00:00-08:00
I got out the two Venetian sets of dies and started to assemble my card. Tooooo harsh. It needed some swirls to soften so I cut the flourish from the set and inset the sentiment die into it. I can make probably two more cards from all the rejected pieces I cut after that for the rest of the card. This is what I finally ended up with. Cutting the dies in the watercolor paper and Old Olive (and off setting them) was the hubbys suggestion for contrast, as well as the MB Freemont Crest. He thought that area needed something.
This card took the better part of two days. I enjoyed every minute as it was being made for a very special friend who is getting to retire after MANY years with the Probation Department and so deserves this time in her life. I look forward to getting to spend more time with her AND creating with her because she is EXTREMELY talented!
