Today, 42,000 Teapotters are descending upon the Louisiana Bayou to enjoy some fine Louisiana hospitality, great Jazz and a lotta beignets (I'll take mine with fresh strawberry filling and a generous amount of powdered sugar, please!) Hee! We are making cards for Heidi who, just yesterday, started intense treatments for aggressive cancer. To read more about Heidi, here is this weeks challenge thread:
Meet Gilbeau Gator. As countless generations of his family has before him, he was expected to reside in a murky swamp ... all day, all night, same ol', same ol'. He was obedient but secretly yearned to go out and explore the beautiful gardens that he caught far-away glimpses of as he swam the swamp each day. Finally, when he was 30, he was overcome with his desire. One night, by the light of the moon, while the residents of the nearby city slept, he quietly walked the streets, perusing their gardens. Gilbeau was astounded by their beauty but longed to see them in the light of day. It took him another year to let go of his fear and muster up the courage to go out into the city in the afternoon. When he ventured out, he was again, overwhelmed with their beauty. At that time, he made a regular habit of it. At first glance, the residents who saw him, were afraid of him. Gilbeau was afraid of them, too! He did, however, speak French, Louisiana French, English, Spanish, and even a little Pidgin, so he could communicate with everyone he met. He became affectionately known throughout the city as Gilbeau the Garden Gator. He also had a love for Zydeco music and when he heard it playing, he would stop and express his joy by dancing to it and singing along. A band leader happened to hear him sing and at age 35, he joined the band. He now spends some of his nights with the guys, playing at a local club. You can look at his face and see how happy he is. Gilbeau was a gator with a dream and now he's living it.
This card is also for today's CC challenge to use old olive, real red and Calypso coral. I subbed the coral and used dp that I am pretty sure are the correct red and green. I found a dp that was similar to the subbed coral, so I used that as well. Dessert was something that flies. I used a plane.
Thank YOU for looking!
