I actually made this card for Susies birthday when the challenge was to use vellum (WT432) but I needed to wait for Susie (susie australia)to recieve it before I could post it! Happily it came yesterday..unfortuantely it was late and her birthday was a few days past but I just call that stretching out the birthday celebration!!!
I used:
Marianne Design LRO271 (leaf flourishes)
Joy Craft Butterflies
SB Resplendent Rectangles (the windows)
half pearls
Star Dust Stickles
Patterned vellum (kind of like latticework?)
Special ivory paperstock from Paper Source
Unknown Happy Birthday
Penny Black "A Day to Celebrate"
In the past I have always used one of my bird collection on my pictures I photograph outside, but we have a flock of blackbirds, (Crows, Ravens???) that are huge (we say they eat hay and could pull a wagon) and they have decided they like our front deck/porch because it has daily catfood (both wet and dry) on it. WHO KNEW they would eat catfood? AND they take it and everything else they can find and drop it in the birdbath (I assume to soften) and make a huge gicky mess out of that. One of them landed by my little white bird (my favorite) and knocked it to the ground and it shattered. When I went to replace him, they now only come in blue and green (Michaels). I was so bummed. SO my peeking bird has turned green with envy (snicker) because he would like to be in among the vines and leaves of my card that was going off to Australia... (That's my story and I am sticking to it!)

WOW what a beauty! Die cuts on vellum! I love it! It has a look of class and elegance. I am sure she will be absolutely delighted. Great story too and I was whining here about June bugs.

Oh lovely Peggy you already know how amazing I think this card is. For everyone else, I can tell you that this card is exquisite in inside and out. The butterflies look like the are about to launch into flight. Their wings have the most delicate shimmer and the little pearls are precious. Thank goodness the ravens didn't whisk it away during the photo shoot. You are the BEST Peggy.

Peggy, this is one gorgeous and unique birthday card! The vines that goes across the vellum windows have a beautiful Asian look! Your new birdie that is green with envy, looks like it goes along with this beautiful card, perfectly!
As to the crows, they are just flying rodents. I have a house finch that is on her third nest out my front door, each time the little ones have fledged, the crows have gotten them. I hope she has some survivors with this clutch! I do my darnedest to scare the buggers (crows) away, maybe I can send them your way!

I'm so glad you were able to show us this card. The vellum windows are lovely. Am I seeing things or is there a diamond pattern on the vellum? It's a beautiful card, Peggy. It makes me think of Japanese rice paper screens. The sentiment script makes this card look even more elegant. A beautiful birthday keepsake for Susie ~
