Michelle's challenge for the WTUI relates to self-discovery month - we are to "try that technique or project or color combo you've always wanted to".
Well, I don't know about always - but since Dina's tutorial for Pencil Resist was featured in the Inkling, I've been meaning to give it a go.
The only two larger stencils I have weren't going to be great to work with - can you imagine trying to get a pencil into all the nooks and crannies of birch trees? I tried - and gave up. So I cut my own stencil from a thin sheet of acetate using the smallest circle Nestabilities.
I used various Couleur d'Art pencils to colour the circles. First attempt, I tried misting over them. It looked great - but it misted right through the mask over my fish, and when I tried colouring him he just look bilious and diseased. So for the second go I sponged the Broken China in, and then swiped DTP with Faded Jeans to add a bit of depth.
Fish is coloured with Twinkling H2Os and some Perfect Pearls on the fins. Computer-generated sentiment popped up on foam. Image panel torn and matted onto torn Bazzill Bling. Stickles for the little fishy bubbles and for edging...
Finished card is 5 3/4" square. I think this will do for my nephew's birthday next week - a bonus, because card A with the birch trees that didn't work wouldn't have been so suitable.

Oh my gosh, Sabrina, I laughed out loud about your bilious fish! But the end product turned out great. - I'd like to see this fish IRL. He sounds pretty terrific!
