This card is based on the sketch by Korin. I got a late start today, as I had to take my Mother to the doctors. Anyway, It really did start out almost exactly like the sketch, but then sometimes you have to follow the path that calls to you.
I tried brayering (again) Blech, still a mess! So I got out my chalks and was going to do either a night scene in the mountains or something to that effect. So I started with my blue chalks. I went to red next thinking I could make a little purple. Then, after the red, the yellows. As I started to stamp my evergreen trees, it made me think of the Colorado wildfires. This is how the skyline looks, the fire is yellow-orange then the smoke is very dark above and in the middle you often see a pinkish purple layer of the fire's light reflecting off of the thick smoke.
Colorado has had a rough time of it lately. I lived in Greeley briefly in my childhood. I have fond memories of building the largest snow forts ever! It is a gorgeous state and I am praying for much happier days ahead for them.
Thank you for stopping by to take a peek!

Kathleen what a gorgeous card you put together here. Love it BIG TIME! I so agree with you about Colorado being a gorgeous state. I was born and raised there but transplanted to California awhile back. BUT I sure miss those blues skies! Your card shows the beauty perfectly. WOW! TFS :0)

Kathleen, this card is gorgeous! I love the brayered sky, even though you had to help it out with some sponging. I often find that if I am using yellow and any shade of blue, I am going to end up with some green, so I will combine the brayering and sponging. Much easier to control. Having said that, the way your colours came together is simply amazing.
