Hello! This card was made for today's Sketch Challenge.
I've been catching up on my stamping these last few days. Markie's Science Fair projects are at a "lull" right now, as nothing is due for a week or two. So, I've been taking a few days to stamp. Well...it's VERY early morning, actually...Why? This afternoon, Markie moped in to my studio and sighed heavily. He said, when I ignored the sigh, "Aren't you going to ask me what's wrong?" I laughed and asked, "What do I have to type for your homework?" He grinned and said, "It's just a brochure." Really??? I thought. I asked, "When is this brochure DUE?" He looked at the floor and then in my eyes. He was crying! "OH NO!!! It's due on Wednesday morning, isn't it?" "Yes, and I haven't even started on it! I've been so busy with the experiments and the term papers that I haven't had time!"
Well, the brochure took over 7 hours to create. He realized I wouldn't let him use photos from the internet. (That's plagiarism. Photos can NOT be copied from the internet, even for personal use without the permission of the photographer. I should know...I got through college as a photographer for several local newspapers.) So, we had to go on a field trip to take photos, in the RAIN!!! of local salt marshes. Don't ask...I learned FAR MORE than I wanted...Did you know that rattlesnakes come out in the rain? I do, NOW!!!
So, after 7 hours of torture, the child finished his brochure. I hope he gets a decent grade, because the field trip cost me a pair of tennis shoes, new car mats and probably a cold, since I was out in the rain! I made him type it himself, as I was pretty upset about the last minute notice. He was very grown up about the entire thing. That is, until the printer REFUSED to print. Then, Mark's printer stopped working completely! Okay, one printer, fine. But both? Come ON!!! However, Markie's Uncle Paul came through and printed it for him. (Thank goodness we have family so close!)
On to the card... I inked the stamp one time and stamped it 4 times. Next, I used my Copic Airbrush to color in the trees. (Trees from MFP's A Walk in the Woods; sentiment from MFP's Cardinals in Winter.)
The border was punched and used with the ribbon as a "faux" panel. I like the snow flakes gold...Not sure why.
I sprayed the gingham ribbon with the Copic Airbrush to match the trees.
Finished card size: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
Total time to complete: 29 minutes for 2 cards (It's easy if you do them at the same time!)

Faith, I love the way you did the image panel....it has such a mystic feel to it!
I'm sorry you had such a rough go of yesterday's unplanned field trip.....hope you get some sleep soon! That's kids for you....never planning ahead! I'm so glad my kids are all grown, but I may have to go through stuff like this with my grandkids yet.

These are fabulous colors together. I like the snowflakes gold, too.
I can relate to the printer issue. We had it recently when MacKenna needed to print some bird photos for Honors Bio. Neither printer working to print decent photographs so I ordered them from Walgreens. Okay, so I am DUMB.....the neighbor kid that took the same class 5 years ago was showing me his project.......he just put his photos in a word document. I usually think I'm pretty smart......not this time! Plus, she's working on proving the teacher wrong about a species of dove!
