I guess if I journalled, I'd have turned this into an art journal page. It documents my most recent visit to my dad when everything (except the hens and the not-hens (ducks)) was birdies - butterflies were little white birdies he didn't see very often, even a friendly poodle was a sweet birdie. The garden represents both the walled garden we were sitting in and a memory closing in on itself - I added a little green to the sponged walls for moss, but the open gates and lightness of the garden inside represent the sense of wonder we must keep.
I'd already pretty much decided on the bus journey home from work what I wanted to do for the image panel, which is the poppies stamped, then some of them coloured and glazed for resist, then the grass stamped and then the rest of the poppies coloured. Phew , I only just remembered to add my mostly illegible journalling first!!
Once I decided to use this card size, I thought of adding the brick walls and gates. I used a TH stencil for the wall, and popped the gateposts up on foam for a little dimension.
Thanks, Lydia.
