This is inspired by a card in the June 2003 Rubber Stamper magazine. They refer to this technique as Faux Bleach, but Technique Junkies also featured it as Manila Resist. Basically, it's resist stamping/watercoloring using a manilla file folder instead of cardstock. According to the Rubber Stamper article, manilla file folders have a special coating that allows inks to blend easily. I agree, and I also especially like the more vanilla tone of the resist images with fall colors.
I stamped and clear embossed, then used my watercolor crayons and aqua painter. I also used the Old Olive reinker to intensify the green a little more. The next (and usually last) step was removing the clear EP by ironing over the images with copy paper. But I decided I wanted more texture and richer colors, so I then stamped and embossed over the image with Canvas using Versamark and detail clear EP and rubbed over it with a sponge using Creamy Caramel. Then I trimmed the image and cut into it three panels, which are on dimensionals.
I used the same steps to make the Sincere Salutations and Around the Block sentiments. This card measures 5 x 6 3/4.

This is one of the first techniques I ever tried, and on Manila, too! However...I never made anything this AWESOME with it!!! Gorgeous shading and I love the idea of overstamping with Canvas. I really love the way you split it into three panels and used the ticket corner punch on just the outside corners. Also love the hemp and tags on the one panel. There will be a mysterious run on Manila folders after this debut...the government will be investigating...

Awesome work! The manilla is perfect for this, and I love how you divided it into the three panels and framed them in black for great contrast! The sentiments tied with hemp look lovely over the first panel, and the framed thank you overlapping the other two panels is perfect. This gets a 10 for sure!!
