I'm still on the Tag Time kick using the technique challenge and a favorite color combo I haven't used in a while.
I used one of my cereal box stencils for this: start with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" piece of (cereal box) cardboard. Cut out desired shape - mine is just 1" from top and sides and 2 1/4" from bottom, leaving a 2 1/4" square. If you don't have a stylus you can use the rounded part of a F or G crochet hook (or similar household tool) to dry emboss. Since the shape is simple and the stencil is the size of your card, no light source is necessary.
Update 9/28: I swapped this card at Mpls regionals using the verse from Many Merry Messages that includes the words "merry" and "bright" on the inside.

This is just too wonderful. It has that professional look to it. I love it on the kraft , it gives it that gingerbread-like look. Great technique to make lots of cards.

You are so resourceful. I have been debating about getting the brass stencil with shapes and thought that was what you had used! I'll try your idea and save some money.
