This is for Lydia's fun mixed media challenge "Foiled Impressionist Collage". Lydia included a terrific instructional video.
I didn't have any craft foil so I tried foil from a chocolate wrapper and a biscuit packet, but nothing worked.
I used some ancient metallic rub on stuff and some walnut stain distress ink to add a bit more interest.
I made a happy mess making gelli plate backgrounds all afternoon- enough to last a year. I have discovered if I work really quickly, I can lift a good print using copy paper. There is something very liberating about copy paper - if you muck it up, just toss it out.
I already had this girl coloured up waiting for a home, this technique is perfect for weirdo images (did you see the bird in her hair).
She is coloured on copy paper with Prismacolour Pencils, zest it pencil blend and a few highlights of Copics were added at the end.
My acrylic paint and alcohol inks are similar colours so there isn't a lot of contrast but the texture is interesting in real life.
Thank you for looking.

BEAUTIFUL JOB, Susie! LOVE the colors you chose! AND I AGREE, copy paper is much easier to throw out if it doesn't come out! I use it ALL THE TIME! (Shhh, It's CHEAPER! LOL)

I could not do this on my best day. LOVE how you experiment though. I'd never think to do that. WOW! This is amazing! I can't get over not only your image but your background. Just WOW!

I finally had a little time to look in the gallery and saw this gorgeous creation. Only you, Susie, could make a lady with a bird on her head look this stunning. The big contrasting flowers and the textured bg are lovely.
