I made this card for this week's 500th Tea Party! Fun! For this week's party Pat (casep) chose the theme of "500 miles" which I just loved. I am fascinated with hot air balloons, but I am too chicken to ride in one. However, my friend and her 80-year-old mother went up in one because the mother always wanted to do this. My friend's birthday is coming right up so I am going to send this to her (I think she will get a kick out of it). The plaid dsp is homemade using the Winnie & Walter Plaid Stamp Builder set. I love how some people write messages on their balloons so that inspired me to cut out this sparkly birthday sentiment and add it to the balloon. The basket is from the SU Bicycle set called Pedal Pusher. I stamped it, colored it with copic markers and fussy cut it out. The balloon is also colored entirely with copic markers. The sky is sponged with various layers of ink to give it some depth and dimension. This card took me a ridiculous amount of time to make, but now that I have made it, I intend to make a few more to have on hand because I think it works for a man or a woman.

Wow! That handmade plaid is just awesome. I thought for sure it was dsp. Love your balloon and it is colored beautifully.

This is gorgeous, Karen! I love how you used the basket from Pedal Pusher for your balloon too. As far as hot air balloon rides go, you should feel your fear and then ride in one anyway. They are so much fun! (We are fortunate to have a relative who is a balloonist!)
I was welcoming sis Shirl back and giving her return loving and your creation caught my eye and attention!! Magnificent Masterpiece!!! You know me I love making my own plaids so this definitely had me totally!!
