This is for Lisa's fun WTUI challenge - Christmas Socks
Snowdude and snowdudette started out life as PowerPoppy digi images - minor alterations were done to their faces before printing. Christmas socks are a Stampin Up stamp sent to me by sweet Kathleen Lammie from Alabama as a wonderful RAK several years ago.
Reverse stamping tip: Usually when I reverse stamp, the reversed image is never as dark as the primary image. This time I tried using Ranger Archival ink and Versafine - the results were great, although it is hard to see here with all the additional colouring. This is what I did...
Stamp image on smooth white cardstock using Ranger Archival Ink (jet black), now stamp image onto a scrap of acetate (heavy acetate from packaging works great) this time stamp the image using Versafine (onyx black), now lay a piece of smooth white cardstock over the stamped image, run your hand over the card to make the ink stick to it. Now you have a right and left handed sock. Using the two different inks makes the finished products look the same (Versafine is much darker than Archival).
Versafine wipes straight off acetate so you can use it over and over (Archival ink does not wipe off). I did a second set of socks and just cut them down to a smaller size.
The colouring on dudette and dude, was done using Peerless paints and an aqua pen. After fussy cutting them, I added a combination of white paint and modelling paste on them.
I used watercolour paper for the background, using smack & squirt technique and dunking paper into inky water until well covered. I stamped the berries when the paper was nice and dry and also poked on some modelling paste and sprinkled on some superfine glitter. I left everything to dry overnight and was surprised to see the modelling paste had turned pink this morning - it sucked up the distress ink from underneath.
Thank you for looking.
