I was so excited to play in the Clean & Simple Challenge - Time to Hiberanate, CAS349 (11/2/15). The challenge was to use a critter that hibernates or something that keeps you warm and cozy.
When I read, "critter that hibernates", I thought of bears and then remembered a deck of vintage playing cards that my sister had given me a few months back. She found them at a yard sale and thought I might be able to use them for something. Well, that something was this card!
I kept the design simple, to highlight the cute little bear in the tree. Woodgrain cardstock seemed like the obvious backdrop for the image, and I used the multiple loops of line thread to help ground the image.
As a final touch, I decided to try out a new product from PaperTreyInk - natural wood flakes in bright green. I placed dots of scrappy glue on the playing card and smooshed the tiny wood flakes onto the glue. I expected it to be a messy project (flowersoft comes to mind!), but the flakes behaved nicely and stayed where they were placed!
I had so much fun with this challenge! It gave me an opportunity to repurpose a really cute vintage paper piece and courage to use a newly acquired embellishment. It also resulted in a card that will be fun to use for the men in my life. Fun, fun, fun!
Do you have a "critter that hibernates" lurking your stash? Think about joining the fun in the Time to Hibernate Challenge!
