This was another practice lesson for me in watercoloring. I was working on coloring this image for a while now, and because it is done with watercolor paints and in multiple layers of wet on wet, and you have to wait for each layer to dry before moving on to anything else that touches those wet areas, I still had it unfinished this morning. The colors I had used to color the image in matched today's color challenge, so I added a bit of gray to my background and leaves, and then did a shadow mat and die cut the word believe from basic gray to fulfill the gray color requirement.
The technique for this one was to use a very light water based dye ink (markers) to stamp just the outline of an image, without all the detail, and then watercolor with paints instead of our usual inks where the image shows through. I used Distress Ink in Antique Linen and most of the lines did disappear with all the wet on wet applications I was doing. I have a LONG way to go to learn this technique, but I did have fun wetting an area and watching what happens when you just lay down dabs of color and let it run. I think it might be easier on a bigger piece than it is on a little image... but anyway... it has been fun trying new things. Some of my petals I like, others not so much, but I will eventually learn this... she said hopefully!
Thanks so much for looking!
