I did this for the MIX challenge by Janelle who asked us to create a card inspired by Georges Braque's artwork. I googled and looked through his artwork. It definitely got me to think outside the box!
I chose some scrap papers that I had saved from other stamping projects (sponging and ink washes in black). I cut them up, positioning them in different ways until I liked what I saw and then, glued them onto heavy cardstock.
At this point, I just looked at my 5 x 7 panel for awhile and I started seeing eyes. I wasn't drinking, honest! I started thinking about our society and how there are eyes everywhere (smartphones and cameras). So I drew a pair of eyes and the next thing I knew, I had drawn 50 eyes in the nooks and crannies!
Then, I looked for quotes about "eyes" and didn't find anything that conveyed what I was thinking. Sooooo, I thought some more and came up with, "so many eyes watching, yet so few truly see." I'm not sure what got into me tonight, but I think I was channeling Georges...just kidding.
It was like being back in art classes and just experimenting and creating art to represent what I was feeling. I sure had fun! Thanks Janelle for an eye-opening challenge! LOL
My card also works for the ABC challenge, letter M for mixed media. I'm sure the alphas will think I've gone over the edge, but they know I'm a bit off by now! Ha ha!
