I made this card for this week's Teapot Tuesday challenge. Anita is our hostess and she has chosen a wonderful challenge of "Flowers Need Water" in honor of our recipient who loves flowers and colors them so gorgeously. This week's recipient is our very own scs Cheryl (CherylQuilts). Cheryl is dealing with an extraordinary health situation that is going to take some time to remedy so we are sending cards to cheer her up since she is such a huge cheerleader to so many of us here on SCS. Cheryl is a one-of-a-kind gem of a gal so I decided to make one of my fish on this card one-of-a-kind special too. Do you notice not only the sequins, but the flower in her "hair" too? How fun! This card has a lot of steps to it, but it is fun to watch it all come together. I colored both fish and the shells with copic markers. The large fish, I glued the sequins in place 2 at a time, then let it dry so the sequins did not move when I tried adding more. This takes awhile to do, so I would color and die cut in the meantime. The sand and water are shaded with distress inks, then the sand was stamped with a sand stamp. Arranged the scene carefully so it would not extend beyond the silver frame that I added last with foam tape.
When I was done making this card, I realize it also qualifies for the Alphabet Challenge for the letter U for underwater.
If you can, please take some time to send a card to Cheryl. Thanks for looking today too! ~Karen.

This is going to make Cheryl smile big time. I just love it and those sequin scales! Genius! So very pretty and the sand looks great. Love the shimmery framing you did too! Great card for U as well!

Fun and fabulous. I always love seeing this set, but what you've done to glam the fish up is so creative. The banks of sand, the sea grass, the sparkly frame - everything is just perfect.

Oh my, this is just over-the-top special, Karen! This can't help but cheer Cheryl when she receives this delightful, whimsical underwater scene. Do you know the children's book "Rainbow Fish"? It features a glittery fish who learns he will have more joy if he shares some of his glittery scales with the other fish in the ocean. Your card immediately made me think of that sweet book : )
