What with waiting for layers to dry, it took me all day yesterday to make this card. It started out to be for the Mixed media challenge to use fabric. The large balloon is cut out from a piece of fabric that I had leftover after sewing a scrub top for my job a few years ago. I started out by gluing a piece of newsprint to the papers, then adding gesso then stamping the background hot air balloons and colouring them with Tombow markers. Then I added gesso again and found out the markers bled with the gesso. then added some acrylic paint around the edges. Then I glued the fabric to the card and covered with a bit of gesso and when dry, also covered the entire panel with Mod Podge. I stamped two dragonflies on white paper and layered them, affixed to the card. I then wrote the sentiment on a really dark discarded photo and cut each piece out and added them to the card. This is also for the Teapot Tuesday challenge #265 ...to travel to amazing places. I have always wanted to attend the hot air balloon festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Hot air balloons..............they are so colorful when all in the air together. My neighbor used to have one and offered DH & I a ride one time. I didn't go, but DH did, and now I wish I would have gone too.

Ina, what a great card! I love the texture that the fabric adds, and the contrast between the flying balloons and the flying dragonfly adds a wonderful whimsical feel.

What a great destination. Hubby & I celebrated our 50th at the International Hot Air Festival a few years back just down the road in Albuquerque. It was wonderful.
