Knowing the story of this song does indeed make it all the more meaningful. To coincide with that, just last night I read of the friendship of Mr. Spafford with Mr. P.P. Bliss who wrote, "My Redeemer." That also is an amazing story and one that shows the hand of God preserving a song for Christians in the ages to come. Gleaned this information from "Al Smith's Treasury of Hymn Histories." Wonderful book. And, a truly lovely stamped image over this beautiful hymn! Wonderful coloring.
