This was done for Mother Mark's Teapot Challenge this week.
Her mention of Top Gun made me immediately perk up my eyes and ears. I'm of an age where Top Gun and a young Tom Cruise made my heart go pitter patter back in the day.
This week we went to Coconut Creek, Florida to visit the butterfly capital of the world and, more specifically, the National Butterfly Behavior Foundation (NBBF).
There are a pair of young butterflies there who think they are just like Maverick from Top Gun and are planning a flyby of the administrative offices to make Emma spill her tea.
Well Tilly the Tutor and head of the place called in emergency reinforcements train these two maverick butterflies just like Viper called in Charlie to teach the guys at the Top Gun school.
So meet Lavinia, ready to take these boys in hand and waiting on the tarmac with them in front of the administrative offices to make sure they don't get up to anything too mischievious and save poor Emma some dry cleaning expenses. Tea is very hard to get out of blouses don't you know.
I stamped her in Memento, coloured her with copics and then cut her out. Same with the butterflies from MFT. I found 2 silhouette stamps from Stampendous, one with a rock and fence and cactus (I didn't ink the cactus) and one of a big city skyline (I only inked part of it to make the administrative offices). I masked the office to keep the windows white and the runway and then sponged on Baha Breeze for the sky. Then I masked off the sky portion and sponged on Blue Bayou and Vintage Violet for the tarmac and finished it all off by sponging on Walnut Stain. I made the BG piece by sponging with walnut stain distress ink after testure fading the piece and then sponged the card base with Baha Breeze and Walnut stain. The Melon Mambo pieces are sponged with Baha Breeze and for anyone who wants copic colours to match Melon Mambo try the R 80's with a bit of B40's for shading. I used my MFT die for the clouds and sponged those egdes the same as the card base. I used a bit of glossy accents on Lavinia's goggles.
Hope you like it and thanks for looking.
And thanks to Mother Mark for another terrific Teapot Tuesday challenge!!! I tell you I just can't wait for Tuesdays to see where we're going next. This is such a fun way to make a ridiculously fun and whimsical card. Thanks Mother Mark!

Bwahaha! Whoa baby! I can tell by just one glimpse that Lavinia means business.....She is saying, don't make me get my giant fly swatter out!!! Snort! What a kick this is! I love it! When I was reading your story, I was thinking, who thinks this stuff up? Yikes, its me! and You! Rut roh!
I know what you mean about Tom Cruise! I liked him better back in the day that currently and Kelly McGillis (is that her name?) She played such a great part! Yay!
I love Tuesdays too because you never know where you guys are gonna take my original story! You just never know! This is awesome!

Lavinia sure looks like a "No Nonsense" kinda gal... those two mavericks had better behave or she'll clip their wings! Awesome coloring... love your tarmac scene.

I'd have to say that that just is not my style of image, but the card is certainly great - I like your layout and the shabby embossed layer suits the image perfectly. Plus Lavinia looks more than capable of getting those butterflies into shape and behaving as they ought.
