This is an encouragement card, for My Favorite Things' lovefest challenge. I'll hand it to my neighbor tomorrow, when we meet for lunch. If she remembers... She's an independent, accomplished, brilliant woman with deepening dementia. Her career centered on peace education and conflict resolution. It's heart-wrenching, seeing her (and especially her family) struggle with the personal upheaval and turmoil that comes with loss of control.
I know. I was my mom's responsible daughter during her 8 year journey with Alzheimer's. It's a hard lesson: Even in dementia, our loved ones give us a reason to make the world better.
I used this week's mft sketch, stretched vertically from landscape to portrait, to accommodate the globe and sentiment.

Love the look of your globe and it goes so well with your sentiment and is perfect for your friend. I'm sure you will be a great support to your friend and your family but I'm sorry about your friend's situation.

Oh my . . I love so many things about this. What you did with the Houndstooth pattern is genius. Dementia is the devil! I'm so sorry you've had to battle that devil with your Mom and now your friend. What a special friend and daughter you must be.
