My friend Barb taught me how to make this oh-so-essential undergarment with punches.
Sponged Rose Red on edges. Script stamped in Rose Red. 1/8-inch taffeta white bow. Cleavage is brushed in with aqua-painter and Blush Blossom re-inker.
I have edited the photo and the description to demonstrate how the bra is punched and constructed:
1. Slide the large oval punch only halfway onto the DP; now you can punch. Your DP then will have a cutout shaped like the long half-oval bite out of the lower left side in the photo. You wonÂ’t actually use the half oval. WeÂ’re after the opening here.
2. Now slide your scalloped circle punch over a half oval opening you have punched out. Notice that there are five scallops lined up OFF the DP. Now you can punch out a cup.
3. I rolled the scalloped cups over a pencil to give them some shape and then used a mini-glue dot to attach them to each other.
4. Punch out two word windows and attach them to the scalloped pieces to create straps.
5. Alternate methods: you can create more modest coverage by simply using the scallop without punching the oval first. You will then have a straight line rather than a curve. You can also line with lace, etc. If you use the small oval punch you get a more dramatic plungeÂ… and, of course, a circle to create the really daring demi-cup.
6. Or, you could just use the regular circle punch instead of the scalloped circle punch. Cut a radius line to the middle, overlap them to create little or tall peaks (think Madonna here) and make that famous Wagnerian divaÂ’s pointy-tipped bra. Have fun!
