Another homework assignment from Julie Ebersole's Simply Great Card Design class - Components segment. Our assignment was to take a card we'd made previously that we weren't happy with and make a redo version.
I made a card a while back that used this fab DP I found at my LSS. At first glance you think floral elegance - but a closer look reveals a touch of whimsy - the circle elements are all made up of ladybirds (ladybugs). I also liked the unusual colour combo.
My problem is I'm too literal - a ladybird is red and black IRL. So when I made my first card I couldn't bring myself to put a ladybird image on the card in purple and brown LOL! So I went for a flower. But I couldn't really get the right colours from my watercolour pencils so I've never really liked the card and it has remained unused in my stash - and was the perfect candidate for a redo!
Here's my original card ssnotime18 Stamp Simply Tear it Up! Challenge Card by FubsyRuth at Splitcoaststampers
In my redo I went outside my comfort zone and stamped a purple and brown ladybird - and I'm happy to report I really like it LOL! I also much prefer the circle element. You can't tell from the pic but I've added Dimensional Magic to the wings for some shine and dimension. I definitely like this version better!
