I'm not gonna lie, this card was a real CHALLENGE! That layout was hard for me, guess I am more of a symmetrical person. Now that it's done, I LOVE this card.
I got a huge box of FUN from Papertreyink recently, I haven't been able to order any of the new stuff until recently, and boy do I love these colors.
Now for the adventure, I started by using a stamp from one of the new sets from Papertrey, and stamped around the oval. I had originally intended to stamp over the top with an image, but it just didn't look good, so I cut the center out and stamped a lovely bamboo image from the set. But I muffed the border, so I scrapped that altogether, and used it on another card.
So I was left with a floral border. I stamped the flower and cut it out. I tried to use stickles to jazz it up, but had a stickles explosion due to some blockage, thankfully not on the flower, but on my work area nonetheless...egad!
I colored it by sponging some berry sorbet, which is a beautiful color I might add, and highlighting the edges with my white gel pen. I put some glue dots in the middle, and tried out my micro beads for the center. I went over the whole image with crystal effects, cut it out and curled the ends.
I stamped "just because" on the card stock in berry sorbet, but of course you couldn't really see it. So I went over it in white, and you really couldn't see it, so I embossed it in clear.... nope still couldn't really see it. I even daubered it with real red pastels, but even that didn't work. So I went back over it freehand with my white gel pen, and FINALLY something worked... I told you this was a challenge.
I then went to the little berry sorbet scallop on the bottom of the card. Looks simple enough. Nope, I had stamped it a little higher on the card, and I guess I had some black ink on it, so it discolored the color.... waaaaaa!
I moved it down and re-stamped and it worked better once it was cleaned. I really wasn't sure about this layout, but honestly, I will use this again. I love the effect!
