These wings have a story a wonderful story. I spent at least an hour on them the last time I played at Ellen's house. You see, I create in two stages: elements and design. I am all about a strong focal point. I love to sit and create a dozen elements that have no particular end project in mind. I find that this allows me full create freedom - there is nothing pushing me in a certain direction or boxing me in.
I keep these "elements" in a special container on my table and use them as a jumping off point when I am ready to sit down and design a finished project.
Details:
6x6 Canvas - Canvas Concepts
Wings - the base shape is Grungeboard from the Plain Elements pack. First they were inked with Frayed Burlap Distress ink using an Ink Blending tool. Then they were stamped with my Scalloped Lace Backgrounder in Distress Embossing Ink and clear embossing powder. Finally, painted over the entire surface with the Juniper Adirondack Paint Dabber and allow to dry a little. With a slightly damp paper towel I rubbed off some of the paint. The paint naturally comes off the glossy of the melted embossing powder.
Background - new patterned paper from the Cosmo Cricket cricket line called Fleuriste. I stamped several images on the paper including Sophisticated Swirls Backgrounder, flourishes from the Beautiful set and the large clock in the corner from the Time to Stamp set, both a part of The Rummage Bin line.
Heart - inked with walnut stain, stamped with Fine Finals Backgrounder in Jet Black Archival ink and covered with Crackle Accents. I allowed it to dry overnight and do it's cracking thing and then pounced Pearl Adirondack Paint Dabbers over the heart and worked it into the cracks with my finger tip. Just a light buff with a paper towel took off most of the paint on the surface, but still left a light glimmer.
Mesh Ribbon - airbrushed with Latte Adirondack ink.
The edge of the canvas was brushed in layers, allowing for a slight drying time with Shabby Shutters, Frayed Burlap and Black Soot Distress Crackle Paint respectively. Finally, I painted three layers of Adirondack Paint in layers Willow, Pearl and Pebble to cover an area where I could stamp the sentiment. Once dry, the sentiment from The Art of Framing (Rummage Bin) was stamped in Jet Black Archival ink.
You made it to the end! Thanks for looking.
