This is my card for today's Technique Lover's Challenge- to try the Faux Cloisonne' technique. This is the first time I have tried this and I love how it looks!
I used my Embrace Life set to make this card, I thought the big flower would be perfect for this technique. I don't have any magazines with images that would be good for the faux cloisonne', so I ended up using a brochure that I had for Monticello. I stamped the flower (twice) on the brochure in Versamark. I embossed both images with gold embossing powder. I cut the flowers out and set them aside. I was going to use the crystal effects, but Betty (gbedwright) had mentioned problems with the paper curling and I decided to just leave the flowers as they were.
I wanted my card to be fairly simple and quick, so I made the card base out of black cs and added the horizontal panel. The bottom layer of the panel is wild wasabi, the next layer is rose red, and the top layer is basic black. I stamped the sentiment (from Sincere Salutations) on the top black layer in Versamark and embossed it with gold ep. I attached the flower closest to the sentiment with SNAIL and attached the other flower with dimensionals. I used my crop-a-dile to add the gold brads on the left side of the black sentiment panel. I stamped the bamboo branch image from Embrace Life in gold Encore ink above and below the horizontal panel and used my heat tool to set the ink so it doesn't smear.
I am really happy with the elegant look of this technique and I will definitely be buying some gardening magazines so I can try this again!
Thanks for looking and I hope you like it!
