We went to a secluded village and it was
very obvious that the people were not
used to seeing white people around. They
were shy at first, but they eventually
warmed up to us. The little girls loved
playing with my long hair.
Jacmel is a small fishing village about 2 hours from Port-au-Prince. Above is an example of the Haitian “washing machine”. Laundry is done by hand with buckets, water, and soap. On the right is a photo I took of a little girl on the beach in Jacmel. She was fascinated with our UNO cards. We gave them to her and she was so happy even though she had no idea how to play the game.
IsnÂ’t this the cutest little girl? Even though
the people in Haiti are poor in material things,
they are so rich in other areas. The people in
this country are so wonderful.
