Today's limited supply challenge is called Leftovers! That means using scraps on our cards. We were also supposed to limit stamps and non-scrap cs and embellishments. Well, this challenge was exactly what I needed! I have a TON of scrap cs and a bunch of scrap embellies, what great motivation to use some of it up!
I have had an idea floating around for awhile, having to do with using strips of cs to make a "panel" in the center of a card. I have been putting aside some strips of blue cs (various shades) for just this purpose. I pulled those strips out and noticed I had some chocolate chip strips mixed in with the blue- perfect!!!
I decided to make my base colors chocolate chip and creamy caramel, a great contrast to my shades of blue. The main bg panel is caramel and I stamped the linen bg on it in chocolate chip ink- had to dirty-up that cardstock some! I matted this panel with chocolate chip. The horizontal strips are self-adhesive die-cuts from the SAB 2007 Simply Scrappin' Kit, they are bashful blue. The strips that make up the center "panel" are chocolate chip, soft sky, bashful blue, and brocade blue. Some of them were already cut to a length that I liked, the rest I just kind-of eyeballed and cut. I used my distressing tool around the edges of all the strips. I then added a strip of the Scrappin' kit die-cut across the blue and chocolate panel. I stamped the bg from Background Sampler in chocolate chip ink on creamy caramel. I then stamped the sentiment from Much Appreciated in versamark over the Sampler bg. I embossed it with SU! light blue ep. I cut the small panel out and used the distressing tool around the edges. It is adhered to the strips with mini pop dots. I have a bunch of brads that I have put aside in the "reject" pile- I am really picky about my brads being perfect and having no rough or bent edges- and I added some of these to the corners and sides of the large caramel bg panel. I think they actually go quite well with the worn-out look of the rest of the card.
I should add that ALL of my cs (except for the actual card base) were scraps and pieces that were already cut-up.
What do you think?
Thanks for looking!
