Here's my card for the masking challenge. I took another stab at a birthday card for tomorrow. I'll get DH to pick which one he likes better.
The masking part of this card is the background. I used my Presents cube from Sunshine Designs (www.sunshinedesigns.ca) and stamped all four presents all over the card. I wanted a feeling of abundant presents for a 40th birthday. Conveniently, these presents were easy to cut out so making four masks wasn't difficult.
The sentiment is a clear stamp set, and took a bit of doing to get it right. I eventually used fluid chalk ink and that gave a good impression. It's a bit wonky, but I'm ok with that. The birthday boy is an engineer so he'll be able to detect the slightest misalignment anyway so I'm not going to worry about it.
The present is coloured with a blender pen and ink pad tops.

Gorgeous card. If the birthday boy notices the sentiment is wonky turn it around as proof he is aging (poor eyesight)! I consider things like that proof a human made the card!
Great layout, background (what patience you have!) and color combo.
