I needed a card for friends who have a new home. I thought I'd use my birdhouse cube (Sunshine Designs, www.sunshinedesigns.ca). I stamped it in Palette Black Noir and watercoloured it with Tombow markers. The roof, flower, and dark plaid lines are highlighted with my Sakura glaze pen.
Focal image maounted on real red and more mustard (with Well-Worn Words stamped in chocolate chip - from my scrap pile - yay!). This image is mounted on a background of various papers from the Recess collection by Basic Grey, which are mounted on real red and a chocolate chip card base. The flower rub-ons are Bo Bunny and the sentiment is printed off on my computer and set in an aged copper hardware frame.
If you're interested in creating the distressed technique on the plaid side of the card, it's quite easy. First, apply a photo corner rub-on. Decide you don't like it. Try scraping it off with your fingernail (won't work). Try scraping with paper snips (pokes holes in paper). Try covering it up with another piece of the patterned paper. Looks *bad*, but the tape peels off some of the rub-on! Repeat with more tape, picking up the bits of the rub-on until the top layer of paper comes away too. Peel off top layer of paper in other "random" spots and sponge with mustard and chocolate ink. Consider posting a tutorial on this new, marvellous technique..... (I wonder if I could get free rub-ons in promotional consideration.........)
