I really wanted to stamp cards for the 2006 holidays, butÂ… We awoke to slightly overcast skies and pristine new-fallen snow one day last November. I grabbed the camera, dashed out the back door, down the far property line (to avoid mussing the snow in front), set up the camera on a tripod and looked through the viewfinder. I gasped, dashed back up the property line, in the back door, through the laundry room, into the garage, CLOSED the garage door, then back out the rear door, down the property line, etc. The soft shadows of an overcast day are so appealing. This became our holiday greeting card to friends and family. The construction is nothing more than a modified Z-fold with a custom-trimmed top edge. TFL. (truly, I do plan to stamp the cards this year!)

Stamps: Script: Zapfino and Bell MT fonts in text boxes in Word program
Paper: RoyalBrites-brand smooth satin photo paper (nice and heavy like commercial photo SC)
Accessories: I bought bulk boxes of Christmas cards that had gold-foil-lined envelopes in the 8” by 5 ½” size I needed. This was less expensive than buying just envelopes in that size!
Techniques: Score horizontally immediately below photo and again on mark about an inch above inside script. Then trim along roof lines, down left and right sides of card, fold and tape.
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 2 This was super easy! It took a few hours of computer tinkering with sizing and placements, but then the card construction was a breeze.

You can still stamp a card if you have a beautiful photo. I do a stamped photo card every year. two years ago I too woke up to a beautiful winter wonderful site and had to incorporate my photo in a stamped card. try the crisscross card with your photo inside!, or try to stamp merry christmas ontop of your photo and mount the photo to cardstock and stamp the greeting inside. stampin up has some wonderful photo corner punches that can add even more beauty to your photos! have fun this year.
tip: you can still have your insert of your criss cross card open so it will stand up. I even slipped the back of my opening insert back into the criss cross folder so that the entire thing will stand up. Or close the criss cross card with velcro and have it open making a total frame! the criss cross flaps will hold the card up creating a beautiful frame.
