Because so many of you live in the US you probably didn't hear this, but on Saturday in Edmonton, Alberta there was a massive fire that destroyed 18 homes, and damaged over 100 other ones. The damage estimate right now is over 25 million dollars, it's made national news in Canada for days.
This hit us very closely because our friends, and co-workers were one of the families that lost their home in the fire. And when I say lost, I mean there is nothing salvageable. Praise God, no one was hurt or injured in the fire they are safe, their children are safe and all their neighbours are safe, but it will be a long road ahead in rebuilding. Truly, posessions are just that...things. But I feel very heavy hearted for them. Imagine losing your wedding pictures, or the pictures of your children as babies...those are the things you can't replace.
We brought a bunch of things over to them yesterday, but I wanted to make a card. Though I'm not sure if this is the one I really wanted it to be special to convey our support of them...I'm still quite shaken over it all.
It's based on a sketch challenge from Jen's blog at http://iheart2stamp.com/, and it ended up looking a lot like hers...which I didn't intend, but I know I'm not fully my creative self to be very original! Thanks Jen for some gorgeous inspiration.

this card is so gorgeous and so *heartfelt* that it is perfect for showing your empathy during their time of crisis. I know it had to have lifted their spirits along with your gifts of kindness. Thank you for sharing with us.

Wonderful card - so thoughtful of you. Such a terrible tragedy - and to hear today that they are ruling it as arson makes it even harder to imagine. Hugs and prayers for your friends!
