My daughter and her husband had been caring for a rescued New York City hansom carriage horse for the past two years. Sadly, she was at the end of her very long life, and they had to make the difficult decision to have her put down this past Monday.
It was heart-wrenching for the whole family, and she asked me to make a card for their vet, who was so caring and compassionate in old Nellie's last moments of life. This is the result.

It's such a sad day when we have to say goodbye to a good old friend who has served faithfully and become part of the family. Your daughter and her husband have very kind hearts to take in an horse like this, and I hope the memories they have of Nellie will help soften the pain of their loss.
What a beautiful card - one that will be truly honoring to her memory!

What a wonderful thing they did. I think you did a wonderful job on the card. They should cry when they see it.
