My sister asked me to make birth announcements for her baby boy who was due March 7th. She married into an Irish family and with the due date so close to St. Patrick's Day, we decided to go with that theme. He came a little early -- 2/21 -- but I had already made 200(!!!!) of these, so nothing was going to change. PLUS, by the time the insert (photo with the vellum overlay) was ready, they went out just before 3/17.
This project was definitely a labor of love. I bought a packet of petal cards, cut off two of the "wings," then traced them onto CS and cut them out, using a paper cutter on straight edges and scissors for the round edges. My hands were bruised! The band that holds the card closed is stapled so the card slides in. The photo/vellum insert is not attached to the CS, so it slides out. The vellum is attached to the photo (a B&W printed at Kinko's on cardstock) with an apple green grosgrain no-tie bow.
They turned out so cute and she got such a great response!
