pocket holds pamplets from tour and journaling: The Plantation Village and Museum was a little tricky to find, but was worth the effort. It was full of history of the plantation era and gave us a glimpse into their Society building, homes, bathhouses, store and camp office.
The Village was not laid out as a typical campsite. Camps would often have a cluster of structures for each ethnic group. Generally laborers lived in crowded and unsanitary camps, but by living with others that spoke the same language they developed a community identity. October 8, 2004
