This is for today's IC, Wednesday's WCW and WT980-the winter solstice.
I enjoyed watching the WCW video this week, although sometimes a video with no talking is challenging for me. When does the artist let things dry so more layers can be added? Inquiring minds need to know. I'm not sure how loose this ended up being...so tempting to keep adding things. I didn't love her choice of landscape so I went searching for an image I liked. I'm frustrated that I can't find what I tried to paint. Picture a tiny red house, right in the middle, huge trees and mountains in the background, a cloudy sky, house reflecting in water, sun coming up on the left.
I was just in Minnesota for Christmas and found this on the inspiration site: https://www.buttermilkbasin.com/coll...taupe-y3828-61
The western side of MN is prairie, no mountains, not a lot of trees. MN has lots of lakes (not as many as WI, sorry Polly, but it's true). The water in the inspiration photo was beautiful, dark, wonderful reflection of the red house which I tried to recreate with just a little red wash. I'm adding this to the WT about the winter solstice because of the sun coming up on the left and the sentiment. I invested in some new sentiments recently; I love interesting, meaningful sentiments.
If I find the painting, I'll add it here. I forgot to add some smoke coming from the chimney so I'll try to add that too. Thanks for the challenge, Linda! I do so enjoy the WCW, love to see everyone's work.

Love the little red house and the reflection of it in the water. Wonderful mountains and trees and I love, love the sentiment, too.

Well, you certainly managed to get a lot of challenges into this painting. But in the end, it is first and foremost a landscape painting! I absolutely love your moody waters and the reflection of the red building. That lovely lake could easily have become the Missouri River ("Big Muddy") with the addition of red - so bravo you!!
Side note from your comment on my card - Remember Linda's last directive was paint any kind of landscape you want - just have fun!
